Flaw is one of the few groups to eschew post-grunge à la Creed and modern-day rap-metal, preferring to instead play straightforward metallic rock that relies less upon gimmickry and more on musical prowess and aggression, making the group peers of latter-day Metallica and Staind. Vocalist Chris Volz's powerful and melodious singing voice leads almost all of the tracks, with solid yet unspectacular guitars and rhythms layered underneath his emotive voice. When he screams, though, it's as if he feels obligated to try, and a few catchy tracks -- such as the lead single, "Payback," and the eerie "My Letter" -- are surrounded by filler that fails to stick.
