A sleeper hit that slowly but surely climbed to number one on Billboard's Hot 100, "Thrift Shop" is the track that took Macklemore & Ryan Lewis from indie to everywhere. One listen and it's easy to see why, as the Settle-based hip-hop duo sing the praises of second-hand stores with a hook that's instant and infectious. Macklemore's use of current slang, like "poppin' tags" and "one man's trash is another man's come-up," challenge the hypebeasts in their own language, while Lewis' production is fresh yet familiar, bringing back some of that Daisy Age-era spirit when groups like De La Soul and Arrested Development dominated.
