AllMusic Review by Paul Simpson

Threshold of Faith is the first fruit of Australian experimental artist Ben Frost's sessions with engineer Steve Albini, recorded during the summer of 2016 in Chicago. The pair balance hair-raising, finely tuned distortion with delicate acoustic instrumentation, creating a tense and unnerving effect. The title track combines swarming electronics with deep, plunging bass eruptions, along with unsettling Darth Vader-like breathing sounds. "Threshold of Faith (Your Own Blood)" seems barely related to its counterpart; it retains the deep, rumbling bass, but instead of distortion, there are crystalline layers of acoustic strings and pianos. "All That You Love Will Be Eviscerated" appears in two forms: A sparkling, fragile Albini version, and a brutal remix by Lotic which surrounds the original's twinkling tones with scrambled beats. The entire EP is haunting, surreal, and undeniably beautiful. More, please!
