AllMusic Review by

This two-disc set from Sony Music collects 40 cool blasts of nostalgia that celebrate simpler times. The appropriately titled Those Were the Days plays out like the credits to an early Technicolor or late black-and-white film, offering up a flurry of standards like "Mack the Knife" (Louis Armstrong), "Que Sera Sera [Whatever Will Be, Will Be]" (Doris Day), "Dream a Little Dream of Me" (Bing Crosby), and career-defining classics from Pérez Prado ("Guaglione"), the Isley Brothers ("Shout"), Patti Page ("[How Much Is] That Doggie in the Window"), and the Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight [Wimoweh]").
