This CD presents four imaginative and lovely pattern music compositions variously for electric guitar, percussion, tape, and pianos. "Liquid and Stellar Music" (1981) for electric guitar and live tape loop system creates a world of floating, celestial tones contrasted with running patterns. "Destiny" (1983) for electric guitar, drummer (the remarkable Gene Reffkin) and live tape loop system was inspired by rock & roll and other world musics. The funky, up-tempo polyrhythmic patterns seem to be rushing toward some inevitable meeting with fate. "Water Dreams" (1985) is an electroacoustic tape composition with beautiful, tremulous harmonies, created from viola samples, that form a transparent background evoked by the sound of flowing water. "This Same Temple" (1976-77) is performed here by the renowned Double Edge piano duo (Nurit Tilles and Edmund Niemann). The music is built of rich harmonies and lyrical modal patterns delivered in complex rhythmic cycles between the duo.
