This generous 20-track collection transports one back to 1973, and it's obvious the pop charts were surprisingly varied (as they usually always are, actually, no matter what the year) and full of little gems. This installment of this series has a decided British cast, featuring Steeleye Span's elegant "Gaudete" and Hot Chocolate's not-what-you-think-it-is "Brother Louie," but then Ike & Tina Turner's frenzied stomp through "Nutbush City Limits" is pure back-country American R&B turned up several notches. The end result is perfect for a long drive down memory lane.
