With the exception of two guest appearances by trumpeters Harry "Sweets" Edison (on the blues "Sweet Coke" and "Out of Nowhere"), this is a trio session featuring pianist Dolo Coker, bassist Leroy Vinnegar, and drummer Frank Butler. The boppish pianist, who spent many of his key years in Los Angeles and was therefore always underrated, shows throughout this set that he was a creative player within the hard bop idiom. The LP gives one a fine example of Dolo Coker's talents and is highlighted by two of the pianist's originals, both of which are worth reviving: "Third Down" and "There Is No Other Way."
