With a mix of post-grunge plaintiveness and hard rock drive, Thick as Thieves finds Cavo fusing energy and emotion on their third outing. Finding a nice balance between muscular rockers like "Celebrity" and soft-hearted ballads like "Southern Smile," the St. Louis band delivers a collection of songs offering something for fans of every part of the modern rock spectrum. This kind of range showcases Cavo's versatility, presenting a picture of a band whose members are able to get tough while wearing their hearts on their sleeves. While this catchall approach means the band never really pushes its sound far enough in any one direction, it does make Thick as Thieves a solidly constructed album that's sure to give fans of Shinedown and Hinder the post-grunge fix that they crave.
