Japanese all-girl group Thee 50's High Teens deliver revved-up bubblegum punk on their self-titled debut. Drawing easy comparisons to artists like Shonen Knife and 126.96.36.199's, Thee 50's High Teens are partial to organ-driven numbers that call to mind such past garage rock luminaries as the Sonics as well as more contemporary acts like the Delta 72. Though not any worse than their forebears, and by the sound of it, really into their psychedelic punk vibe, Thee 50's High Teens don't really bring much new to the genre. That said, diehards should find much to enjoy here.
