This double LP (put out by United Artists in 1975) has some of the highlights of the Jazz Crusaders' many Pacific Jazz recordings, most of which have unfortunately not been reissued since. Tenor saxophonist Wilton Felder, trombonist Wayne Henderson, pianist Joe Sample and drummer Stix Hooper are joined by a variety of bassists (Jimmy Bond, Victor Gaskin, Bobby Haynes, Monk Montgomery, Al McKibbon, Leroy Vinnegar and Buster Williams) for various performances; in addition there are guest appearances by guitarist Joe Pass, flutist Hubert Laws, organist Clare Fischer and some percusionists. The 17 selections (drawn from nine different albums) are uniformly excellent although it would be perferable to acquire the complete original sessions. Highlights include "Robbins Nest," "Watts Happening," "Appointment in Ghana" and "The Young Rabbits."
