Though billed as The World's Greatest Tribute to Nirvana, this compilation is a bit misleading in its advertising. It does provide for some amusing treats such as aging punk rock icon Dee Dee Ramone doing a fitting cover of "Negative Creep" and the U.K. Subs covering "Stay Away," but those highlights are sadly few and far between. Eight songs in and suddenly the format changes inexplicably to songs that are purported to be the roots and influences of Nirvana (Iggy & the Stooges, Hawkwind). While some of these nods hold water, others could be nothing further from the truth. Overall it's a mildly awkward attempt to pay homage to a band that needs only reverence through listening to their originally recorded works.
