The World's a Stage: Music of Jamaica is the kind of thing one might expect to hear in an elevator in a Kingston high-rise office building, bright enough to catch the ear for a moment, but ultimately so generically fashioned and unremarkable that it fades quickly into the background. It could be called smooth jazz with a Caribbean lilt if there was even an inch of actual jazz present, and it's difficult to imagine this set being used for anything other than mood-setting music in a waiting room. That said, it sounds happy and joyous, a bit like what happens when you hit the happy and joy buttons on a synthesizer. Somebody just forget to hit soulful.
