Produced for Aloha Airlines, this gatefold -- with lush color photos and rampant text -- is a lovely tourist artifact. Musically, it is extremely cheesy, and for some that will be the only source of appeal. Predictable but over-the-top covers are "The Hukilau Song," "Little Grass Shack, " and "The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai." Somewhat interesting is an instrumental version of "Lisbon de Amor, " reflecting the Portuguese influence on Hawaii. But the best reason to hear this album, if one dares, is simply the opening narrative. Hearing about Hawaii's "verdant valleys with hidden waterfalls" and so forth in sincere, poetic shades of glory, one cannot help but conjure up a truly wonderful world of aloha.
