AllMusic Review by

Although Louis Armstrong was one of the most influential instrumental jazz musicians of the 20th century, much of his popularity among the music-buying public came from his enjoyable vocal outings with other popular entertainers. Some of these duets are featured in this best-of, including his successful pairing with Bing Crosby on the relaxed "Gone Fishing" and "Lazybones," as well as a similarly laid-back recording of "Old Rocking Chair," done with the trombonist Jack Teagarden. Though Ella Fitzgerald's mellifluous voice was on the surface not a good match for Armstrong's gravelly growl, they nevertheless made many successful recordings together; notable here are "Dream a Little Dream of Me" and "You Won't Be Satisfied." Also included are two rare duets with Billie Holiday on "My Sweet Hunk O' Trash" and "You Can't Lose a Broken Heart," while Armstrong and bandleader Louis Jordan perform an entertaining version of the classic "You Rascal You."
