On their debut full-length, The Westbury Squares have the intention of rocking out to the distorted pop ethics of Superchunk. But that's all these guy have going for them as they fall into the trap of having all their songs sound the same. And when they're not trying to sound as if they're from Chapel Hill, a grungier side emerges as a less abrasive Mudhoney can also be heard. Not the most original indie record, but at least The Westbury Squares still provide an innocence of fun, complex pop.
