Ex-Dovells' lead singer Len Barry carved a prolific solo career via hits like "1-2-3" and "Like a Baby," both included among the 11 songs. The CD starts badly with "Introduction to Len Barry" where Barry mouths about how hard it is to get a hit record, etc. He sticks to singing on the rest in a penny candy sweet first tenor that moles into your membrane, a voice you never forget once you heard it, á la Frankie Valli, Smokey Robinson, et al. Notables include "Somewhere" sung to a marching beat that Barry steps right along with, and the Barry, Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff collaboration "Struck It Rich," which makes you pine for more by the threesome. At under ten bucks, this brief overview of Barry's solo career will fit most budgets.
