AllMusic Review by

The Very Best of Cloud One, released by 21st Century Music in 2000, includes The Best of Cloud One in its entirety and adds a second disc of productions related to Patrick Adams and Peter Brown, the two arrangers, producers, writers, and musicians responsible for several short-lived Harlem-based record labels in the '70s and '80s. It's not the easiest Cloud One disc to track down, but it is the one to get. Not only does it offer Cloud One and Funky Disco Tracks of Cloud One in full, but the second disc includes a handful of excellent rarities. Karisma's "Got You Dancing" (with the great Jocelyn Brown on vocals), Johnson Products' "Johnson Jumpin'," Little Scott's "Going to a Disco Tonight," and the remix of Cloud One's "Atmosphere Strut" add plenty of value to an already value-packed compilation. Those who find themselves smitten with the work of Adams and Brown should also hunt down both volumes of Counterpoint's Disco Juice, which anthologize more of the dynamic duo's work released through their labels.
