The Ultimate Collection Review

by Andy Kellman

The Ultimate Collection, released in 2003 by Universal in the Netherlands, is a fairly gaudy but ultimately handy three-disc compilation. Since the third disc is technically a bonus disc (fluffed out with remixes and live takes), all the meat is on the first two, which contains a lot of the familiar hits -- "She Works Hard for the Money," "Love to Love You Baby" (all 17 minutes), "I Feel Love" (the three-minute edit), "Bad Girls," "Hot Stuff," "Last Dance." The set isn't as sweet and succinct as Endless Summer, and it might be too much of a plunge for those who just want the biggest smash hits. It goes a little deeper than that, and does so admirably.
