The first single off of Beatless' Life Mirrors LP, "The Truth" goes some way to indicate a band resting on their Afro-Latin laurels. Alex Attias (Mustang, Plutonia, Catalyst) and Paul Martin (Interfearence) create three varying tempos of the same cut, from repressed and trembling to temple-drum libration and up to sad New Orleans funk, but even if it's a slight remove from their more jazz and drum'n'bass New Latinaires work, in actuality it's just as stagy. The spiritual and soulful descriptions are misleading, and those interested in global reconstruction should seek out Sweden's Brommage Dub or Hospital Records' Landslide instead.
