This double LP includes all of Horace Silver's trio recordings for Blue Note including 14 selections from 1952-3 and nine other performances dating from 1956-68 when he normally recorded with his quintet. Silver, a highly individual composer and pianist whose funky style became very influential by the late '50s, is sometimes overlooked as a keyboard soloist so this hard-to-find set (which includes early versions of "Ecaroh" and "Opus de Funk") sheds new light on his versatile talents. Well worth searching for.
