Things We Do for Love features mostly re-recorded versions of 1970s soft rock favorites. Some of the new versions are passable, some are atrocious; a few original-artist live recordings round out the collection. While the reversion of Pilot's "Magic" is simpering and weak, the Chi-Lites' "Have You Seen Her?" benefits greatly from the addition of retro fuzz guitar. The inclusion of the Korgis' underrated classic "If I Had You" almost makes this collection a must-have, but then a sloppy take on the Delfonics' "Didn't I Blow Your Mind (This Time)" ruins the effect. It's a better idea to locate the original recordings of these songs, as most are readily available in the retro racks at just as reasonable a price.
