The String Quartet Tribute to Clay Aiken Review

by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

As with any of the String Quartet Tribute albums, it's hard to imagine the audience for String Quartet Tribute to Clay Aiken, but in this case, it's a little more bewildering than usual because Aiken only has one album to his credit. So, this winds up being a full-album cover of Aiken's Measure of a Man, performed by a string trio (it may be billed as a quartet, but only three musicians play on each cut). As these things go, it's not bad -- professional and well-played -- but when the source material is kinda dull, the easy listening cover is even duller, and is only interesting as a curio.
