AllMusic Review by

Roots of UK Rock 'n' Roll is a single-disc, 26-track overview of Alexis Korner recorded in the '60s with his band Blues Incorporated, and a few tracks recorded in the '50s with Ken Colyer's Skiffle Group and Beryl Bryden's Backroom Skiffle. Among the stand-out tracks are four covers of Muddy Waters' tunes: "I Got My Brand on You," "I Wanna Put a Tiger in Your Tank," "I Got My Mojo Working," and "Hoochie Coochie." Also of interest are the skiffle performances of "This Train," "Roundhouse Stomp," and "Easy Rider." This Xtra collection is a sufficient career overview of the influential English blues and skiffle musician.
