On the surface the Romantics and Loverboy may not seem like a good match yet Sony decided to pair them up on 2002's Take Two. Initial impressions are proven true as the Romantics' fairly perky brand of power pop and Loverboy's thin and generic Arena rock/pop clash mightily. The fight isn't really a fair one since for some reason none of Loverboy's hits are on board and the Romantics' deathless good-time anthem "What I Like About You" is. Still, the Romantics display an overall knack for a hook and a semi-original sound on their five songs, two things that eluded Loverboy for the most part, especially on the five songs chosen here. All of which means this disc is pretty worthless. If you are a fan of either band you are going to want a best-of, not this meager collection. [For some reason the disc was reissued in 2005 by Collectables as part of their Priceless Collection series.]
