AllMusic Review by

These live airchecks follow Goodman through a regrouping period after the 1938-39 defections, through his group's temporary disbandment, and then through another regrouping period in 1940, following his back operation. The earlier sides still find Ziggy Elman, Vernon Brown, Toots Mondello, Jerry Jerome, Johnny Guarnieri, and Charlie Christian in the big-band lineup, with Christian and Guarnieri doing double duty on the sextet numbers, including a barnburning "Seven Come Eleven." Interesting band sides pop up in "The Count," "Perfidia," the ultra-rare "Board Meeting," and a full-band version of the sextet's "A Smo-o-o-oth One." An interesting chapter in BG history.
