AllMusic Review by

Whenever people think of Scottish music, the first thing that comes to mind is bagpipes, and this CD features accomplished performances from two of Scotland's finest pipers. There's a primal tug at your heart whenever the wailing call of the pipes begins to beckon, and the unaccompanied simplicity of the these traditional tunes will create a powerful stirring of emotion. Angus MacColl's soulful style is a tad more fluid, with his flamboyant approach making him a perennial popular favorite at these piping recitals. Gordon Duncan seems a tad more technically proficient, with his lightning-fast fingering often blowing the listener's mind on the more up-tempo jigs and reels. With such rousing performances and a great mix of standards and modern tunes, this is a fine sampling of the stirring sounds of traditional Scottish music.
