AllMusic Review by

Each volume in the Party Mix series of compilations, released by a U.K. label called Crimson, offers three CDs of anonymously mixed songs. They are, indeed, DJ mixes of a sort, with the selections blended into one another -- the songs are not provided in full. The Party Mix: 70s Classics offers an arbitrary assortment of hits, including Heatwave's "Boogie Nights," Dolly Parton's "Jolene," Biddu's "Summer of '42," Electric Light Orchestra's "Livin' Thing," People's Choice's "Do It Anyway You Wanna," and the Tymes' "You Little Trustmaker." This isn't all that different from setting up a smart playlist of songs tagged 1970-1979 in the "year" field and adding the crossfade option.
