The listener could play both sides of this split over and over again and still not hear anything significant that will make the Muffs and Holidays stand out among all the other power pop/punk bands. Although Holidays contain an upbeat spunk of melodic, three-chord energy, there unfortunately isn't enough to hold someone's attention. The Muffs are pretty much the same way. Even with Kim Schattuck's ragged voice and the bouncy but all too short "Happening," their side doesn't come close to their near-perfect first two albums on Warner Brothers.
