Denver's the Maybellines debuted their warm indie pop sound with this CD on Shelflife Records. Opening with "Sleep Over" and "Watch Out," it's instantly evident that the quartet favors short, simple pop songs. Organs highlight "Space Mission Bible Camp," while "Sally" revels in a steady beat and charming lyrics. "I Hope You Like Me Too" is an earnest and simple track, while "One Thousand" is easily the edgiest song of the bunch. Ending with the simple ballad "Happiness Digest," the band proves it possible to pack a wealth of pop hooks and warm sounds onto a disc full of bright and brief songs. Throughout the eight-song disc, the band is easily comparable to another Denver indie pop quartet, Dressy Bessy. Recorded in January 2000 at Uneven Studios in Denver, the album was released in 2000.
