AllMusic Review by

While Noro Morales wasn't necessarily one of the top purveyors of mambo, his presence here provides a nice contrast to the fiery king of the mambo, Perez Prado. Prado, along with Tito Puente, really took mambo to its zenith in the '50s. For Morales, though, the '40s and the rhumba craze was the thing. Still, Morales cut a slew of quality sides, many of which are included here. The bulk of the Prado selections on this collection, however, come from his '50s prime, with such standouts as the classic "Mambo No. 5" and "Havana." Masters of the Mambo is probably not the best way to check out either of these Latin heavyweights, but in lieu of finding one of their top discs on Tumbao or Rhino, it will do just fine.
