AllMusic Review by

This Eagle Records compilation features 2 discs of early, fuzzy and footloose gems from 1968 by the Woodstock-era lineup. Included are all 5 tracks from the PERSUASION collection as well as several found on ACAPULCO SUNRISE. With a band member gladly yelling "Let's Go!" in the background, "Soul Sacrifice" is a frisky and relatively brief romp through the percussion-and-guitar jam that would soon go down in history as a boogie-down dancefest at Woodstock. The Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends" gets a hard-pounding treatment, with Gregg Rolie delivering a sweet soulful vocal performance. "Santana Jam" is a spacey, bichordal excursion with reverb guitar, Afro-Cuban cowbell and barroom piano tinkling together like soft rain on a window.
