Although Jamie Myerson's initial singles were quite good, the success of Listen, his full-length debut, still comes as something as a surprise. In essence, he's an American counterpart to Roni Size, finding a middle ground between layered, polished club music and progressive, rhythmically intricate jungle. Apart from Carol Tripp's appearance on "Rescue Me," there aren't many vocals on the album, but that doesn't mean it's inaccessible -- the layers of intertwining beats and keyboards are more mesmerizing on their own, creating a provocative, fascinating debut.
