AllMusic Review by

A super budget set of Miles tunes that rarely reflects who he is and what he means to jazz at all. There are sides here of Miles playing with Charlie Parker and Tadd Dameron; they're radio transcriptions of dubious quality at best. There are some sides with the early quintet from the '50s and signature tunes like "Bye Bye Blackbird" are present -- at least parts of them are, anyway, since several of these tracks were severely edited. Suffice to say this is no place to start a Miles collection or be introduced to his rare genius, and it's no place to end up, either, even if you are a completist. In short, this collection doesn't behoove anyone at all who is in the least bit serious about Miles, jazz or archiving classic recordings. It's a rip no matter how cheap it is.
