AllMusic Review by

Bo Diddley invented, or re-imagined, or set fire, or did all three to the old shave-and-a-haircut rhythm and brought it early into the history of rock & roll, and then he spun songs off of it, often with his name in the title (three of them are here, "Bo Diddley," "The Story of Bo Diddley," and "Diddley Daddy"), so that the rhythm itself became known as "the Bo Diddley," all of which would have just been a gimmick if he didn't have the energy and flair to make something more out of it. This set hints at why he is considered one of the most important early rockers.
