Fuel 2000's 2003 release Kings of Classic Country contains many of the great male country singers of the 20th century, including Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, Ferlin Husky, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Wynn Stewart, Faron Young, the Louvin Brothers, and Hank Thompson. It also includes Bobby Goldsboro, so the title really can't be taken at face value. Nevertheless, it's more true than false, and it contains many great country songs -- not just from the aforementioned artists, but also Merle Travis' "So Round, So Firm, So Fully Packed," Tex Williams' "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette)," and Skeets McDonald's "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes." In fact, each of the 14 songs topped the country charts, so even if a handful haven't quite stood the test of time, they're all noteworthy and, given its low price point, it adds up to a good budget-price collection.
