AllMusic Review by

Volume One of Castle's Irish Folk Collection series is its strongest and most diverse. Fans of traditional music will appreciate the inclusion of songs by the Dubliners, Sweeney's Men, and Finbar & Eddie Fury, while the more adventurous -- and tolerant -- will revel in sugary vocal pop standards like "Limerick You're a Lady" by Glen Curtin, "Molly Malone" by Barry O' Shamrock, and the Cotton Mill Boys' version of "My Wild Irish Rose" -- the latter would fit snugly in a David Lynch film. The real gem here is Bride Gallagher's alternate universe- bizzaro-Brill Building pop-artifact "The Turfman From Ardee," which alternately delights and terrifies with unintentional hilarity.
