At least Arista Records didn't call this Jermaine Jackson's Greatest Hits (an oxymoron). The Heritage Collection compiles Jackson's two biggest Motown recordings -- "Daddy's Home" and "Let's Get Serious" -- with nine ho-hum Arista tracks. Of the Arista sides "Do What You Do," "I Think It's Love," and "Two Ships in the Night" top a weak litter. It's amazing how Jermaine's tenor, so tough and aggressive as a teen, got higher in register as he aged. Doesn't it usually work the other way around?
