Each volume in the Platinum Disc label's extensive Greatest Hits of the '80s series features ten chart-toppers that span the decade, with a heavy emphasis on songs that continue to be played regularly on adult contemporary radio stations. The selections are a bit too broad and the amount of material on each disc falls toward the skimpy side, so none of the discs is all that remarkable. The eighth volume includes New Kids on the Block's "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," Gregory Abbott's "Shake You Down," Bad English's "Price of Love," Hall & Oates' "Private Eyes," and Paul Young's "Every Time You Go Away."
