Compiled for director Baz Luhrmann's 2013 film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, The Great Gatsby: The Jazz Recordings features a mix '20s-style jazz, with performances both old and new. Primarily, these are recordings done by the Bryan Ferry Orchestra, who take modern songs such as Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful," and rework them in a vintage instrumental jazz style. Also included are several of the group's arrangements of classic Ferry songs such as Roxy Music's "Love Is the Drug," which does feature Ferry on vocals. Also included here are a handful of cuts by such classic artists as Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton. If you enjoyed the music in Luhrmann's film but wished you could hear it minus the contemporary hip-hop production, then The Great Gatsby: The Jazz Recordings is just what you're looking for.
