AllMusic Review by

Radio once had a prominence in homes that made it the very template for television when that medium overtook and largely superseded radio. This three-disc set, the first of a three-volume chronological series, provides a varied documentary-style survey of radio between 1938 and 1940, presenting shows like Orson Welles' famous The War of the Worlds live broadcast, songs and memorable speeches like Lou Gehrig's tearful Farewell to Baseball, and as other odds and ends that recreate the bygone Golden Age of Radio.
