This reissue LP does not necessarily have the "best" of bassist Oscar Pettiford; in fact, its original title was Another One. But the music performed by Pettiford's octet (a young group including trumpeter Donald Byrd, trombonist Bob Brookmeyer and altoist Gigi Gryce) is excellent and fits securely in the hard bop mainstream of the era. The bassist contributed four of the songs on the date (including "Bohemia After Dark" and "Oscalypso") and is well showcased throughout. Worth searching for.
