AllMusic Review by

In this CD, Ronnie Nyogetsu Seldin presents another recording of pieces from the Jin Nyodo Kinko style of playing, similarly to two of his previous records -- Reibo: In Memory of the Bell and Ichi on Buttsu -- but with pieces not heard on these two previous ones. The particularity of this style of playing is a search for sound at its purest, with no extras, as Jin Nyodo believed was the real way to play the shakuhachi in past centuries. In this CD, some of the pieces he performs have some of the best-known shakuhachi pieces of the repertoire: "Hi-Fu-Mi Hachigaeashi," "Shika No Tone," "Kumoijishi," and "Akita Sugagaki," for example. Pure and unadorned meditative music.
