AllMusic Review by

With multi-colored spiked hair, painted leather jackets, and ripped plaid bondage pants, the Casualties look like they just stepped out of a time warp from 1980, but they're dead serious about their punk rock. Riffing on the prime hardcore street punk of Brit groups like the Exploited and G.B.H., but with a gritty New Yawk sensibility, the band tears into their buzzsaw Oi with a sense of life-and-death purpose. THE EARLY YEARS presents a compilation of early demo and alternate takes of songs that eventually appeared on albums like FOR THE PUNX and UNDERGROUND ARMY. The production is raw and grimy, which most likely suits Casualties fans just fine.
