Despite a healthy downpour of rain, the ever-energetic DMX rocked the crowd at Cypress Hill's sixth annual Smokeout Festival in San Bernardino, CA, held in 2003 and now documented on this DVD. There's a opening montage and a couple other video effects, but seeing DMX pumping his fist in the rain is the most interesting visual here, since the presentation is uninspired and often with cameras in the wrong place. The live set is short, too, coming in just under half an hour, and the extras are minimal, including the usual, boring "photo gallery" and an interview that is four questions long (the interview also includes the choice moment where DMX "comes clean" and admits he's "not a fan of too many other rap artists" but he appreciates Biggie because he had "charisma"). The hook is that this was the man's last show before retiring from the music game to focus on his acting, so hardcore fans will appreciate owning the historical moment. Anyone who saw his better-captured MTV Hard Rock live appearance is in for nearly the same show, so catch that when it reruns and leave this one on the shelf for the fanatic.
