The 2014 box set The Complete Studio Recordings doesn't fail to live up to its title. Every one of Joe Satriani's studio albums, beginning with his indie 1985 release Not of This Earth and concluding with 2013's Unstoppable Momentum, can be found in a newly remastered version by Satriani and producer John Cuniberti in this attractively priced, clamshell mini-box of CDs presented as mini-LPs. This alone would be a hefty haul -- the set amounts to 14 albums released over the course of nearly three decades -- but for the dedicated there's a supplemental compilation called Additional Creations and Bonus Tracks, which rounds up stray songs and unheard cuts. This has its moments, but the main reason to purchase The Complete Studio Recordings is to get Satriani's core catalog at an attractive price, especially as the albums sound better than ever.
