AllMusic Review by

The Turbans are known primarily for their 1955 recording of the R&B classic "When You Dance." While it was the only national hit the group would have, they recorded numerous tunes of similar quality. The first volume of The Complete Herald Recordings features 18 mid-to-late-'50s tracks recorded for Al Silver's Herald Records. By utilizing the master tapes, the crisp harmonies of the group are crystal clear, especially on regional hits like "Sister Sookey," "Miss Thing," and their final release for Herald, "Congratulations." Dedicated fans of R&B should note the inclusion of two separate takes of "Farewell to Arms" and an outtake of "Bye and Bye."
