Funky jazz rockers Shakatak crafted some interesting dance and soul music throughout their career. The music featured here, their second collection, is mostly remixes of material that has been released before. Still, the sounds they crafted have aged shockingly well considering the tools they utilize. The robotic voices, disco beats, and smooth jazz instrumentation blend together into a better mix than expected, while lead singer Jill Saward keeps it together with her Karen Carpenter-esque voice. Tracks like "Feels Like the Right Time" and "Living in the UK" are quite listenable dance numbers, while the remixes prove how much house music was actually influenced by the light R&B of the early '80s. Shakatak was never a bad band, but they developed an odd reputation because of their sound. Pay no attention to their reputation, as this is a good collection of their music that should appeal to casual listeners and fans alike.
