This double-disc package from Earache compiles Anaal Nathrakh's first widely released full-length, the classic The Codex Necro from 2001 (originally issued on Mordgrimm), with 2003's When Fire Rains Down from the Sky, Mankind Will Reap as It Has Sown, an EP issued in 2003 (and re-released with three bonus tracks in 2006). In between was a compilation of the band's first two demos, Anaal Nathrakh and Total Fucking Necro from 1999. A decade after the fact, The Codex Necro is still regarded as a classic of black metal, despite the fact that it doesn't strictly adhere to the genre because of its employment of industrial, doom, and grindcore elements. In addition to the album, the first disc also includes four tracks from a 2004 John Peel session for the BBC and the EP retains its bonus tracks as well. For the uninitiated, this set is a complete effing blast of pure nihilistic power.
