Spitalfield's debut six-song EP is spirited but routine alternative punk-pop, full of the harmonies, earnest lead vocals blending pain and jubilation, ebb-and-flow juxtaposition of quiet and noisy passages, and driving spiky guitars common to the genre. The songs are devoted to the pangs of adolescents turning to adults -- trying to salvage breaking relationships, moving out of the family nest ("Leaving Home"), and the emptiness of whiling away days in front of the tube ("Channel Search"). Occasionally the tense mood is softened by something more delicate, like the ringing riffs and high harmonies that infuse "Maybe Someday" with a more optimistic longing.
