AllMusic Review by

This Warner Brothers Europe collection pairs composer Vangelis Papathanassiou's 1990 album City and his 1995 release Voices in remastered form for a budget price. Both albums were released Stateside on Atlantic, and were generally well received. They predate Vangelis' use of actual symphony orchestras, and instead rely on his multi-layered state of the art synthesizers to "sound" symphonic. The former album is a conceptual look at a day in the life of a city that shifts and contrasts its themes from the nearly ambient to something akin to dance music. The latter set is far more laid-back, almost new age in its near pastoral soundscape and panoramic aural vistas. These are not the best known of Vangelis' recordings, but they are of interest.
